I have 2 petroleum pipelines going across my property. I farm over both. Were here when I bought the place in '78. Over the years I have seen maintenance on the line twice, neither on my place but next door in a gully and another about a mile down the road, adjacent to the road.
Both times there was no indication of a problem with the line. One day the crew shows up, digs a hole, does some work and a week later, other than loose dirt at the workover site, you couldn't tell anybody was there.
They have a little Beetle that runs inside the line taking data on it's condition. Do not know what it carries, but it's purpose is to find potential problems before they become problems.
I tore down some old fence crossing the lines and replaced it. I called the number on the plackard that mounts on fences where they cross the line and told them they needed to replace their plackards. Next day a guy shows up, real polite, we get the work done in short order and away he went.
I don't have a problem with pipelines and if we are to obtain any kind of energy independence something has to change for the better. Too many boo birds out there (including competitors in foreign countries) trying to stop us.
