In about 1974, local fire department had a '52 GMC up for bids- paint you could see your face in, 20K miles, all the fire stuff stripped off and 20 feet of frame rails behind the cab. Had a 303 Jimmy engine. Perfect hay truck. I bid $128, some other guy bid $150 and got it.
He lived a couple of miles from me. He got it home, parked it in the field. It never moved for 25 years, until he died. I'm sure his heirs scrapped it. Grrrrr. . .
