: : : Can anyone tell me the adverse effects of trans : : fluid in the crankcase. Will it harm or just : : clean the engine? I'm not for sure if its in there : : but the Cub I bought looks like it was used for hydro : : fluid. Changing the hydro pump O rings as it is leaking and fluid : : looked reddish. You never know so I thought I would : : ask. Thanks again in advance...and again for all those : : that posted as to the hydro problem. Back in the early 70's, we used to run a few quarts of ATF through an old motor that was starting to varnish up. Would leave it in there for 3 - 4 weeks, then change it out. The worst effect was that it smokes white when being burned. Also creates a lot of ash that could potentially foul exhaust valve guides if left in for months at a time. As was said earlier, a little won't hurt a thing. Jeff King : : Jeff : Dextron won't hurt it in moderation. I recomend hytran in the touch control. Good luck: Mike Dane
