After I left the Marine Corps, I worked as a printer for 5 years. Chapped and cracked hands and fingers are endemic to the printing trade 'cause you're always washing your hands. You'll make adjustments on a press, and then have to handle the finished product.
We had a sink in the shop activated by a foot pedal, and we kept a big jug of "Cornhuskers" hand lotion on the sink. Don't recall what was in it, but it sure worked.
