I do tires the hard way, with a bead breaker and tire irons. I enjoy the exercise. Seriously. My income producing work is too sedentary.
Also have a bubble balancer which does a good job 99% of the time. Only rarely do I have a problem tire that I have to have someone spin balance. And tires seem to be getting easier to balance.
Within the last six months, I've mounted and balanced four new tires each on both my wife's Chrysler T&C and my Dodge Grand Caravan. Hankooks on the Chrysler and Coopers on my Dodge. All eight just needed a bit of touching up with less than an ounce of weight per tire.
