Keep in mind that human nature never, never changes. Many other factors change such as technology,politics,etc but "greed" and "wants" never never change. The merits of each side don't really matter in the big picture. Either side will go to extremes if they have the upper hand, i.e., human nature never changes. So the bottom line is Supply and Demand. In the 40's,50's and 60's there were more job openings than labor available. Now there are many more people than jobs. Simple eh!
