TV station in Minnesota did a report on that a week or 2 ago.
People file a fake tax return that shows a pretty good refund, and the gov sends out the refund.
Real person is left with the mess of straightening it out.
The bottom line ended up being not much you can do about it; th govt refunds your money before they go through the return, only way to really clear it up would be to hold refunds until they go through the return, and if they did that we'd create a new Boston Tea Party so they have to think on it a while.....
