A while back someone on YT told me there was a hyd filter, screen, on my farmall C. Today it's too windy for man or beast to be outside, so I decided to change the HYD oil and check out the filter. Inside the pole barn, out of the wind.
There was a lot of sludge, not to mention the screen filter needed a bath.
Put it back together and decided to experiment with 5w20 full synthetic motor oil. It only hold 3 qts. The pump was talking more than I like. Well it sounds a lot better using synthetic. Will keep an eye on things. See how it works in the summer. I figured some hyd fluids are full synthetic. Synthetic can handle higher temps. My hyd system is only used to operate the lift arm, which raises and lowers the belly mower.
