Tildesleys built these rigs for the agricultural contractors who travelled from farm to farm. This tractor is a Model N Land Utility, new in November 1939. Its got the faster 3rd gear for road travel, rear view mirror, under slung muffler, and generator to power the lights.
The plough is a Cockshutt #10, imported into Britain by the famous Lister gas engine company. Oliver & Cockshutt ploughs were very highly rated here compared to British built Ransomes. They suited the power & pulling capacity of the Fordson Model N, and the bodies were ideal for ploughing up grassland
The trailer has lockable front box to store spares like shares, oil & grease & gas [for starting the tractor]. The barrel holds the Vaporising Oil; note the springs on the trailer axle.
Note the detatchable rubber road wheels secured to the steel wheels with wing nuts; the plough drawbar is removed & this detatchable draw bar to lower the front of the plough for transport on the road.
