I am wondering if there is a petroleum type salvage company dealing with these things, meaning perhaps there are services available that could pump out the remaining fuel oil, possibly paying you for it or its a wash, you break even, they do the work, keep the fuel, (if substantial amount in the tank). Maybe safety kleen or something similar to used oil recovery.
I have seen ads in CL for indoor tanks, remaining fuel stocks quite often, usually when someone changes or converts to another heating system. The caveat is that the buyer of said fuel does take the risk in regards to the quality of it.
I've got a 1000 gallon one in the ground that I want to take out of service, so I kinda wonder what the options are when it comes time to deal with the remaining home heating fuel oil.
