I bought my Ford 655A backhoe at auction about 10 years ago. It was the only candidate there for me, as all the newer, four wheel drives, were selling in the $20,000's, twice my price. I was seconds away from hoping to own it, when this nice little lady, with her tall teenage son, bid, totally screwing up the flow. I thought, OH NO, it's all shot now. The auctioneer was smart enough that he stopped the bidding immediately. Then he explained to her that the "11", or whatever the exact number was, had three zeros behind it! She was mortified! Bidding resumed, the auction guys recognized me as one of the serious bidders, and all ended well. I drove the thing home!
