The last two times I've changed the hyd oil on my little terramite, it smelled burnt and was dark. I changed last oil and filter at 250 hrs.
After doing some research, oil can break down under pressure and temperature. I may have been part of the problem. After getting sticks stuck near the pump, filter, and hoses I built a solid skid plate. That may have trapped heat causing my problem.
So, I made a skid plate using expanded metal and attached an 8 inch radiator fan to expanded metal. Hope this solves my problem, because I have no way to safely install a hyd cooler.
