not sure about missouri gene, but here in illinois the tow company that is on the police tow roster gets to eat those. i have a car that i recovered a couple weeks ago from out in a creek. 20 below windchill, our roll back and the wrecker to get it out. guy lost control on the ice off roaded and creek'ed it. took us over an hour to do the hookup and recovery. guy has liability insurance only. soooo, we hold the junk for 90 days till we get a c.o.p. (certifice of purchase) from the pd, then we apply for junk title, the we get to haul it to the junk yard. we get back the scrap price. but, if you are on the police tow roster, you take the good with the bad.
