Is there a reason? Yes... Lots of people when they replace the six loop rims on Ferguson tractors they replace the original pip head bolts with carriage bolts like Ford used. The pip head bolts were made with a flat on each side of the head so that you can put a 1 1/16" wrench on it to keep the bolt from turning. Plus the pip head bolts have a little nub that sticks out on each side to keep them from turning in the loops. That set up is far better than carriage bolts. Do I judge people's tractors for not using them? No...but from a practicality and working tractor standpoint, it makes more sense to use the original style bolts.
