I ventilate every coyote I get the chance to. A good mule or donkey will keep most of them away. What we call a horse mule[gelding] seems to be the best.Found a dead dog in their pasture last week.I have seen them actually chase coyotes. Its really funny to watch Shorty, whose mother was a Percheron, slip up on a dog. He will pretend to be grazing untill he gets within striking distance.Usually the dog or coyote is not killed but he does not want to come back! They make pretty good guard animals but you have to be careful putting them with momma cows because some mules and jacks look at the newborn as an intruder and attack it. I wont say that pack couldnt take Shorty or Tom down but I would there would be 2 or 3 coyotes laying there too.
