Thanks Bill, keep you in mind. I didn't pay much for the 18 hp kohler. I bought it because it has an adjustable carb. My 20 hp doesn't. I leaned my 20 hp kohler in the summer with E20. Winter I need to use E10 to get it to run right. Even my Jubilee and Farmall C. Lean them down in summer, richen up in winter to make power.
I paid $50 for a new coil for the 20 hp. Still having gremlins. When I turn the key off it only kills one coil. After 3 attempts to fix the issue, I going to use the 2 used coils off the 18 hp. Run a ground wire to each coil and new kill wire. Short out coils with a different switch. If that doesn't work, I'll just turn off the power to solenoid and let carb run out of gas.
Not only did the blown kohler have a mouse nest, all the cooling fins were backed solid with dirt. I think the dirt killed the motor, then a mouse set up residence. Not sure.
