In my home town in Illinois there once was a couple of rail lines (now removed), that have been converted to walking/biking paths. The RR trestles for the most part are still intact. There are still many places along the line where the steam engines must have had there fire boxes cleaned out as there are piles along the way of clinkers. Under one of the trestles I found this piece half buried. Dang thing is heavy!! I thought it was steam engine related some kind of way. Any thoughts?
