I never could understand comparing debt to GDP.
The GDP is the income of the entire country not the government.
If you compare the debt to what the government takes in (taxes); much like a family comparing its income to its debt (car; house; credit cards) the government debt is well over 600% its income.
Go to a bank and try to get a loan with a 600% debt to income ratio and see how far you get.
When interest rates go back up; and they will one day; this country will be in deep doo doo.
