I was 10 in 1955. That was the year Dad got his first 8N. We had a G JD and a M Farmall. Just before had a H Farmall and a B JD. The 8N was the tractor we virtually used every day. Easy to get on to quiet and just the thing for a kid to learn on. Never had any tools but a plow to start with.Then a cultivator. Rented a brush cutter from the Ford dealer. In 1958 dad traded the 8N and the G JD for a 350 IHC utility Diesel. with 2 point hitch. Wouldn't plow very good. Dealer finally came out and put a top-link on it. helped a good deal. Ended up with a 3 point adapter on it. Kinda like todays quick hitch. Bottom line, little Fords may not have been perfect, but were ahead of competition. Just like a 4010 JD in their time.
