It may be the transfer case shift motor , pretty easy to remove just 3 bolts usually 10mm heads. Sometimes if you just take it off and bang it around and reinstall it , it will work , but you need to use it every couple days to keep the position sensor part of the motor from getting corrosion build up . Those motors are expensive from Ford but aftermarket has them for a lot less.
