That is all grass planted by the Ernst seed company or companies that work for them. They are located just north of the mercer county line in Crawford county. They started planting that stuff about 5-6 yrs ago. Was a big write up in the paper at the time. It was all to be made into pellets for pellet stoves. They had invented some machine that somewhat cooked the grass then dried it and finally compessed it under huge pressure and made it into pellets that could be burnt into a normal pellet burning stove just like normal wood pellets.
