I live in Ontario and I have OHIP which is Ontario Hospital Insurance plan. I have a carrier for this and some extra coverage , for my wife and I, we pay $232 month which also includes drugs,one yearly visit to eye doc and one pair of glasses every two years. Don't let all the nay sayers crap at this , we get doctor care immediately,just call and book a time ,usually that day. Emergency takes you in at the hospital anytime. We do have wait periods for such things as knee replacement/hip replacement/elective surgery.....but I don't lose my house or farm because of a two week hospital stay,it doesn't cost thousands a year for me either. Keep in mind that Ontarians pay sales tax on most purchases that goes to health care and there are other taxes but I have affordable health care and have absolutely no complaints about it!
