Sorry but that just does not add up.
Subterranean termites need ground contact; but can eat a building to the ground in short order. Dry wood termites do not need ground contact but they usually work slowly.
Are you sure you are using good; not infested wood.
Did you see any small pellets that dry wood termites make under where the board was.
A Borate product will kill dry wood termites if you can get it to them; but we really need to know what type of termite you have to recommend treatment.
