Hey retired, I went the first 5 grades to a one-room schoolhouse. I am convinced that one learns a lot more peripherally than one realizes at the time. When I went to the "central" school, I tied with one girl for the title of best speller in 6th grade. She went on to be our valedictorian while I just "skinned through. LOL I don't know about you but I am not the speller I was then and I find myself checking myself all the time. I even checked both of the "big" words in this post and surprisingly I had spelled them both correctly. I do use "spell-check" as well.
