The NH and NT series Cummins up to and including the N14 as you know use the dowel ring or "wedding band" as the anti rotation device instead of the more usual tangs in the bearing shell. The correct procedure is to roll in the upper shell which will need to be rolled in with no lube on the bearing. Align the cut out in the shell with the counterbore in the block, then place the wedding band in the counterbore being careful to make sure it is seated in the bearing and block. Lube the lower shell and place in position, also being sure to align the cut out to the wedding band, then install cap, torque to spec, loosen bolts (leave cap in place) and torque to spec again.
