Yes it is one part of the rules I completely do not understand. But then again I am never put in that situation to have to understand it. 99% of the time I go to work at 6am and am off by 8pm and do 10 hrs at home. About 12 weekends a year I take a road run to Dallas or Atlanta to get a few extra $'s I run terminal to terminal of less than 600 miles; go to the motel for 10 hrs and then back home the next day.
Our road drivers that stay gone all week run 600 miles and motel for at least 10 hrs so we never have the chance to deal with it. Only trucks we own with sleepers are team trucks and as you say peoplenet keeps them straight.
