In addition to what John said there is also the 8 hour rule, this is realatively new and says that you need a 30 minute break every 8 hours. So 8 hours after you start you need to go off duty for 30 minutes before you can drive again. Also on the 14 hour clock, you can work past 14 hours you just can't drive. That means that when you start your day 14 hour later your done dtiving no matter how many hours you actually drove. You can legally do things like fuel, load/unload, do inspections ect after the 14hrs. After you quit working you need to take 10 hours of off duty/sleeper birth or any combination of the 2 before you can drive again. There is also a split sleeper option, but it's so complicated almost noone uses it.
