Don't put too much stock in the unemployment figures. The number of workers in the labor force finally passed the amount of people working when external_link took office just a couple of months ago yet the unemployment rate had dropped about four percentage points. The only way that happens is that the figures are based on a smaller number of people considered looking for work. If your unemployment benefits run out and you haven't found a job you are dropped from the rolls of those looking for work. The number of new jobs created in the last six years has barely kept pace with the increase in the number of people entering the work force. Based on that the unemployment numbers should have remained nearly constant for the last six years. Add to that the number of illegal aliens that external_link wants to give Green Cards to and the situation will not be getting any better anytime soon.
