Vastly improved from what? Everyone is stuck on the last recession. Are we sitting better than 10 years ago, 20? "Here" it didn't hit near as hard as in California or some other areas for several reasons. One is that the housing "bubble" was not near as inflated as in many areas. Another is that the farm economy has been pretty strong helping to balance out some other losses. Its like the stock market, if your baseline starts at the end of 2008 then were seeing great improvement but if you look at the whole picture its just in line with everything else.
