Some manufacturers used mineral oil in the braking systems. Our OEM supplier accidentally shipped us several axles that were made to use mineral oil. We used regular brake fluid, which destroyed the seals in a short time.
Oem supplier had to change out all the brake parts.
If you can determine what company made the axles, they may be able to tell you what the system was designed to use.
