I don't have 2 acres of equipment. I got tired of weeds, so I put used free carpet up side down on the ground and put my equipment on top. At the edges I put treated 2x4's so I can run the riding mover wheels on the boards and not get carpet in mover.
Some people said it wouldn't work. Some said it would get smelly. It been down about a year and so far so good. No problems, no chemicals to get into well. Simple fix for me.
I am sure someday, I may need to pick up carpet up and get rid of any dirt that collects on it, but that too would be an easy thing to do.
