If the electrolyte level is very low, I might consider adding battery acid, HOWEVER if it only requires a small amount to bring it to the recommended level, I would just use distilled water.
YES I have to make some general statements, but not being there and not knowing the exact levels or exactly how much additive is required, that's the best I can do sitting here in Indiana. If someone knows the exact level recommended for your battery and knows exactly where it currently is and how much additive is required, they might give better advice... more power to them if they have all that information.
