The seller is very willing to refund the cost or even to let us return the magneto for a full refund. He apologized for the packaging - said sometimes he has a helper and they probably didn't realize that it needed to be tightly packed so the magneto couldn't shift inside the box.
We do want the magneto - so we're just trying to come to a fair conclusion for us and the seller. I'll call a magneto repair shop.
