I used 2 inch heavy pipe (a piece of sign post that broke off) and had a buddy use his plasma cutter to cut a slot about 1 1/4 inch wide so it would fit over the cutting edge. My drive is crushed blacktop with a crown (I live in sand). I used to use a WD with a trip bucket that I could keep flat on the ground so not to dig up too much. This year I got an old plow truck (nice to be out of the wind and have a heater) and got some shoes for the blade. They dug in and didn't work very well, that's why I went with the pipe. It leaves a little snow behind but I have a fairly flat drive and parking area so no big deal. Best is that it doesn't move the gravel or tear up the sod.
