Flies and mosquitoes are still around, darned skeeters are still around in my basement/garage! Must be the floor drain. Seen a few flies too, was 70 deg F on monday. I spent 16 months in Malone, '98-'99 working for a large international construction company, on that upstate correctional facility. I lived just off rt 30 on the left, just before you got to that intersection of 11 and 30 if I recall it correctly. Condo or townhouse type place, maybe a dozen buildings or so there, nice place and there was a ringneck pheasant around all the time, I could hear and see him out the window.
Grouse seem to make it with enough cover around here, pheasant not so much.
They were so abundant before, almost guaranteed you would hit the female on a nest when cutting hay fields, we raised the young of one nest, mother did not make it past the mower conditioner, but the chicks were saved.
