Beins I am a once part time tv repairman, back in the days when color tv came out and all, convergence issues and on and on, if you have a 40 year old tv you don't have much. My arithmetic puts your set in the early 1970's, making it a tube type and they (the tubes and if it was a circuit card, unlike the "Hand Wired Zenith" with no circuit card) just don't last that long. The heat of the filament of the tubes burned up the el cheap circuit card and the connections became melted and unsoldered.
