Glen, around here I simply price shop Walmart and Best Buy and HH Greg and some or all may even offer price match so do your homework. Its hard to predict which brand (especially if major ones) may provide best service, maybe consumer reports or another rating agency can give you advice or ask your brother in law or Billy Bob or Bubba their preferences, in this case it may be the best out there lol. I've had god luck with Sanyo and Sony and Panasonic and RCA and JVC over the years.
That being said, in our area there are a few old fashion mom n pop appliance dealers who have been in the business like 40 + years and if they have the same unit anywhere near the price of a huge impersonal national corporation big box store, Id consider purchasing from them. At least you have a local real person and a store to go to in case of trouble versus the help desk at Wal Mart. Still, Ive never had any problems when I go to Wal Mart with such an issue.
Shop around, do your homework, lots of bargains out there, but Id stick with a major brand.
