It is no hassle at all to bring a tractor from the States into Canada, as long as it is washed clean of dirt and debris and you have a bill of sale/invoice stating seller and purchase price. Here in Ontario we are charged 13% HST sales tax at the border on top of the purchase price of the equipment, but if you're a farmer or business owner you can claim that back anyway. What's hurting us here in Canada right now is the low Canadian dollar, by the time the bank skims a couple of percent on the exchange rate it costs us around $1.16 or $1.17 to buy $1 of American money. By the time you factor that and trucking in, there aren't any deals for us Canadians in the States any more.
