Back in the late 1960's my wife was taken our daughter to school and picking her up. The bus runs by our driveway now. They didn't close schools back then for snow or ice. I saw studded tires advertised and I bought new snow tires and installed the studs myself in our kitchen.
My wife said the cars were stuck on a slight incline and had no problem with the studded tires. The state of MD outlawed the studs later on. The Post Office trucks still use them. Hal
