Disagree. Lifetime means LIFETIME. If they tried that on me (or many other customers), they would find themselves in court.
I have done a LOT of business with Auto Zone. On occasion, I have had problems with warrantied items that I have purchased from them. Always have been replaced without question. Labor not included. If you look at their computer screen when they are looking up warranty, you will see that the lifetime items come up as "999" under the warranty column. This does NOT change after a warranty adjustment.
Could be that the store manager in your area is trying to make his bottom line look better by denying warranty claims.
