Bob gave you some good advice.
I just went through this with my TD9 4 cyl. Mag. you can check the mag by taking it off the engine - using a spark plug, plug it into the coil wire and ground out the base of the plug. Turn it over by hand with a good plug wire, if on spark, grab a hold of the plug and see if ANY juice is running through it at all if no tingle then it could be coil or condenser. To check the condenser arc it across a battery and then have someone grab both ends or you grab both ends or I guess you could just ground both ends to see if it arcs - what's the fun in that.
see if coil is or has been leaking an oily substance, smell to see if it has been hot, and look to see if condenser has any corrosion on the outside of the casing. All are tall tell signs of bad components but they can be bad without these outwardly signs too.
Thankx
Good Luck
Fat
PS. when you ground out the screw/post on the only post on the mag it grounds out the condenser shutting off the mag.

The front end center pin bushing was worn also so I ask that they replace it if they had time. Well, that’s wha
