Just thought I'd chime in here. Country and rock were once very close...Elvis was on both country and rock charts, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly etc. But guys like Hank Williams were always "country". Now, Country and Pop are merging in order to get the younger generation...there is still pure country music out there but radio stations and record labels don't see enough $$$ in it to market it. Our local station just axed a "Sunday Morning Country Oldies" show. No more Johnny Cash or George Jones on the FM dial in Boston. Heck they rarely even play George Straight or Alan Jackson either.
