Real good and safe bet. I've seen that happen on NG diaphrams as well. Rain drops block the vent holes, freeze, pilots and everything go out. That would be the first place I would look. May not be right, but is common and a simple fix. Melt the ice, dry the vent holes with a rag or something. Excellent call John.
