he's just brand loyal I got a MF 255 same drivetrain and hyd system as yours that has had napa premium universal fluid in it close to 30 years no problems it has wet brakes they never been replaced and have never squealed and chattered, as for the jd that's the nature of the beast brake linings wear out then start crumbling particles that stop up the hyd filter seen it happen to several jd tractors nothing wrong with them just a problem they have
