Hey Billy.

Speaking as a fellow who has biked for the past 35 years or so those streaks down the middle of the road were oil mainly from large vehicles.

If you were riding on the highway and it started to rain those streaks were as slippery as ice until the water washed some of the oil away.

Don't see much of that nowdays probably because of better designed engines.

The on thing that used to give me terrors was recap tires on heavy trailers. Spent enough time on the road to have to dodge a hundred pound recap tread bouncing down the road a few times.

I still zip by the trailers when passing these days even though I rarely see treads on the side of the road.

Wonder if the recaps are less popular or they are making them better these days?
