This is usually a liquid, so giving a partial dose would be difficult.
Nitenpyram (Capstar) is effective, but only kills adults and you would need to treat at least once a week for a minimum of 4 weeks.
Our place in Dallas used to have a terrible flea problem. Last year I sprayed the yard with beneficial nematodes and we didn't have a single flea this year. The only problem is, once you do that you can't use pesticides on the yard or you kill the nematodes.
With pesticides and Frontline, you have to re-treat periodically during the flea season. I haven't had to do anything to the yard or my dog this year.
I bought them through jeffersequine.com. Its called "ANTidote". Look under flea control. Costs $26.00 to treat 1/4 acre and you don't have to re-treat.
The ad says it kills ants, but I didn't find it effective on ants, but sure kicks b*** on fleas!
