Perkins did produce a Turbo version of The 236, it was used in The MF 698T tractor amongst other things. A pretty good engine apparently. As for The 'Naturally aspirated ' version of The 236 we had a Massey 168 with The 236 and an IH 674 with The IH 239 . Officially The IH was a higher hp tractor but it did not have the torque or lugging ability of the Perkins. Going up hills with both tractors pulling trailers loaded with grain or manure with the same size loads The IH would 'go down' quicker than The Massey. My neighbour had a 574 ( 4/239) and a 475 ( A rather odd ball European IH with a factory fitted Perkins 212, the same engine as a Massey 165 mk.2 ) Apparently the 475 'would pull the a*** off the 574'.
