Sure they have been sued and so has the drug companies. Then GM recalls and fixes the problem. I've taken drugs that have made me very sick. Do drug companies recall and fix the problem? Don't think so. Is the FDA in the pockets of the drug companies? Does the FDA really look after people like they should, or do they say the drug does more good than harm?
There are countless times side effects from drugs that harm people. Very few recalls. I definately think lawyers may be the only way to battle big drug co.
