When I worked at the local Ford dealership, a customer with an E-350 diesel came in one day and said that since the vehicle was three years old, and winter coming on, he wanted to replace the batteries. Of course I was happy to sell him two new batteries. The originals were both good so I installed the larger one in my 76 F-150 and turned in my weak battery as a core. IIRC, I got at least five more years out of that battery, which would give it eight years. I was pleased with my "trade".
