Hmmmmmmmm. Just maybe it was dogs. I thought it funny that coons would come up to the shop to get at it when the shop is a good piece from the water and there is plenty for them to eat down there. The bait was disappearing nightly and over time amounted to a fair expense. But dogs do roam at night around here and pee on my tires and get into my trash. County has an ordinance against loose dogs as it is. I keep my dog in a 40'x40' pen.
Now that I think about it there used to be a pack of dogs down the road that ran loose all the time. Lots of barking and all. Recalling events of late, don't see many lying in the road any more and the barking has all but subsided. Nobody came around asking any questions. If it killed them off, I guess they figured it was natural causes.
I didn't do it intentionally, but now that I know what I just learned, I think I'll buy it in the little protected pouches to put under my vehicles as I have only had 2 problems with my 2011 Silverado since buying new and both were wires gnawed into, not covered (obviously) by the warranty and cost me $250 to have fixed.
The rats can go and eat elsewhere or suffer the consequences.
While on the subject, I used to have a pretty good mouse problem in the house. I now go around the house throwing some under there and they have all but disappeared.
